He had been visiting his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Dietrick of Morganza where he had been ill for a month. Suffering a relapse on Friday he was taken to the hospital. He was born in England on May 16, 1868, a son of Charles and Nancy Thornley. For 50 years he was associated with the Consolidation Coal Company, and while living in Meyersdale was superintendent of Elk Lick No. 1 mine of that company at Shaw Mines. He was a member of Cromwell Lodge F. and A.M., Rockhill Furnace, Pa., and a member of I.O.O.M. of Huntington County. His wife, Elizabeth Mathews Thornley died in Meyersdale in 1921. He is survived by two sons, William H. Thornley of Connellsville and Robert L. Thornley of Youngstown, O., and by one daughter, Mrs. Dietrick, and by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body was brought to the Price Funeral Home in Meyersdale where friends were received and the funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, the Rev. L. A. McKinley officiating.
