Thorp, 73, died Tuesday evening at his home in Berlin, after an illness of ten weeks. He was a son of Wilson and Mary (Clites) Thorp and had been a resident of Berlin for 50 years. Surviving are his wife, Elanora (Sarver) Thorp, six children - Ellwood, Akron, O.; Homer, Dallastown, Pa.; Richard, Dayton, O.; Pearl, wife of Ira Weigel, Rockwood; Elsie, Pittsburgh, and Lyda, wife of Frank Barr, Windber. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, two half-sisters, Mrs. Pane Kalp, Melcroft, and Mrs. M. D. McMann, Tifflin, O., and a half-brother, James Clayton, Akron, O. Mr. Thorp was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, the Knights of Pythias, and the Berlin Volunteer Fire Company. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Son. Meyersdale Republican, September 21, 1944
