All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ THURBER, Vicki Lynn (McVicker) Vicki Lynn (McVicker) Thurber, 59, Port Charlotte, Fla., a loving wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Fla. on Jan. 27, 2008, after succumbing to a long hard battle of health problems. Vicki was brave and strong throughout the many major and minor setbacks and was an inspiration to her family and friends for her ongoing courage. Vicki was born May 26, 1948, the daughter of Jack B. and Jean S. McVicker. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Jack B. McVicker Jr. Vicki is survived by her loving and caring husband, Stanley Kyle Thurber, Port Charlotte; her loving and devoted son, Dean Jay Yoder and wife, Sheila, Meridian, Idaho. Vicki was loved so much by her sister, Vohnie K. Lemon and husband, K. Robert (Bob) Lemon, Somerset; and her brother, John E. McVicker and partner, Andrew Wojciechowski, Falls Church, Va. Vicki is also survived by stepsons, Scott Thurber and wife, Kristi, And Travis Thurber, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Vicki was the proud and doting grandmother of Chad, Genienne, Marisa and Haley Yoder, and Baily and Kylie Thurber. She had many loving family members and friends who prayed for her throughout her illness with very special friends, Janice Williams and Sharon Haugn-Rowe, both of Reno, Nevada; Lana Phillippi, Rockwood; and Debbie Spangler, Denver, Colorado. Vicki was an administrative assistant for many brokerage firms and later became a certified travel agent, which she enjoyed prior to her health problems. Vicki and Stan traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Iceland and the Caribbean. Vicki fulfilled her dream of settling in Florida with Stan in their beautiful new house. She loved traveling, boating, watching the beautiful Florida sunsets, watching nature, and fishing from their private dock and yes, shopping. Vicki was a beautiful lady on the outside as well as the inside and while she will be missed here on earth she will be welcomed with open arms by family members and friends in heaven. A celebration of Vicki's life will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Christ United Methodist Church, Broadway, Rockwood. The Rev. Mark Ongley officiating.
