He was born in Listie, Pa. on Nov. 11, 1923, and was the son of the late William and Florence Dayton Tirko. Member of the Memorial Baptist Church, Pulaski. A veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired employee of the town of Pulaski. Preceded in death by four brothers: William Tirko, Pete Tirko, George Tirko, Charles Tirko and four sisters: Almeda Shaffer, Ida Marie Romesburg, Katherine Mickey and Helen Fay Tirko. Surviving are: Wife, Ada Rotenizer Tirko, Pulaski; son, James Tirko, Lexington, S.C.; daughter, Linda Rowe, Jackson, Ohio; stepson, Kenny Johnson, Pulaski, Va.; 5 granddaughters and a great-grandson; 1 brother, Joseph Tirko, Somerset and 8 sisters: Mary Bell, Ann Shaffer, Ellen May Rubis, Julia Fellers, Sally Reese, Elizabeth Derencis, Mildred Landsman, Shirley Drakes, all of Somerset. Funeral services 2 p.m., Sunday, from the Memorial Baptist Church, Pulaski, with the Rev. Patrick Coffey, officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Carroll County, with the Hillsville VFW Post conducting the military graveside rites. Visitation Saturday evening at Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va. where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. in lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorial he made to the Youth Missions Program at Memorial Baptist Church, Pulaski.
