Toaso, went to be with his Lord, June 7, 2006. Born July 3, 1926, in Harmar Township, Son of the late Paul and Margaret (Wargo) Toaso. Preceded in death by infant son David Alan Toaso; brother Paul J. Toaso; wife Mary (Nair- Harned) Toaso; and daughter Janis Elaine Toaso. Survived by stepchildren Ronald L. ("Skip") Harned and Bonita L. (Harned) Williams; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Joe, a true American Patriot, served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a life-time member of the VFW and the American Legion. He had worked in Somerset for Specht's Plastics and later worked extensively in the Aerospace Industry where he developed the air filtration system for the space shuttle and the rear wing section for the Boeing 747. He also performed design projects for the Sikorsky Helicopter Co. and Drummond Aircraft. His work took him to many parts of the country. Joe was a 50 year member of the Corinthian Lodge No. 573 F. & AM, Pittsburgh; also a member of Zerubbabel-Duquesne Royal Arch Chapter No. 162, Pittsburgh; a Knights Templar of the Oriental Commandery No. 61 in Johnstown; and a Shriner of Jaffa Temple, Altoona. He served as Chairman of the Somerset County Shrine Club's Hospital Crusade providing thousands of dollars to care for children with orthopedic conditions and burn injuries. A Masonic Service will be conducted during his Memorial Service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, at St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, 2081 Husband Road. A meal will follow the services at Hoss's Restaurant. A private interment of his ashes will be performed at a later date in Deer Creek Cemetery, Harmar Township, Allegheny County. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to "Jaffa Hospital Crusade" and sent to Somerset County Shrine Club, Larry LaVigne, 1963 New Centerville Road, Somerset, PA 15501-4452.
