Townsend, 73, Bradenton, formerly of Red Lion, died Nov. 23, 2004. Born Oct. 30, 1931, in Spangler. He is survived by wife, Beryl R. Townsend, Bradenton; daughters, Cindy McVay, York, and Bonnie Young, Red Lion; son, Russell Townsend, Sarasota, Fla.; two stepsons, Larry Leiphart, Middleburg, and Rick Leiphart, York; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He retired from Met-Ed Electric Co., York after 32 years of service. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 1446, Red Lion; American Legion Post 543, Red Lion; troop committee member in Boy Scouts of America for 18 years earning an Order of the Arrow Award and a member of Hawk Gunning Club, York. He was a veteran of the Army serving in the Korean War. Burial will be held in Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Hospice of Southwest, Fla., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238 or the Heart Association, P.O. Box 21475, St. Petersburg, Fla., 33742.
