Ralph Trimpey Jr., 68, of Vineland, N.J. and formerly of Somerset County, died Dec. 31, 2003, at Millville Center - Genesis Eldercare in Millville, N.J. following a brief illness. The husband of Catharine Trimpey (Hider), he was born in Markleton, the son of the late Ralph F. and Ruth M. (King) Trimpey. Also preceded in death by one sister, Carol Trimpey and one brother, James Trimpey. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Catherine Cali; four grandchildren: Thomas, Christian, David and Phillip; three sisters: Lois Baker and her husband Donald of Markleton, Judy Gober and her husband George of Oakland, Md. and Mildred King and her husband Charles of Rockwood; two brothers, Richard Trimpey of Markleton and Daniel Trimpey of Maryland; one sister-in-law, Irene Matish of Hopewell, N.J.; three brothers-in-law, Walter Hider of Millville, N.J., Leroy Hider Jr. of Fairton, N.J. and Halie Hider of Port Elizabeth, N.J. and by many nieces and nephews. Following school, he entered the U.S. Army and served as a gun crewman prior to his honorable discharge in 1957. He was employed for over 35 years as a ship builder for the U.S. Government in the New York Naval Shipyard, Groton Shipyard in Connecticut and most recently at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. He retired in 1993. Mr. Trimpey was an outdoorsman whose passion was salt water fishing from his boat R-N-R out of Long Reach, Port Norris, N.J. His other hobbies included hunting for deer, walking and bicycling. Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137, W. Commerce St., Bridgeton, N.J. with Rev. Wes Kenyon of the First Assembly of God Millville, N.J. officiating. Interment Fernwood Memorial Park in Hopewell Township. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Trimpey's name to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick, N.J. 08902 or to the American Diabetes Association, New Jersey Memorial Processing Center, P.O.
