All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ TRUXAL, Christopher John Christopher John Truxal, 15, Bakersville, born Jan. 13, 1991, in Pittsburgh, died Aug. 27, 2006, at the Memorial Medical Center Trauma Unit, Johnstown , after he was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross Pa. Route 31 in Jefferson Township on his bike. He was immediately taken by medical helicopter to Johnstown where a team of doctors and surgeons worked relentlessly for nine hours to save the young boy's life, whose chances of surviving such massive head, body and internal injuries were slim to none. After a long, hard battle, Chris finally succumbed to his injuries surrounded by his loving family. Christopher would have been a 9th grade student at Somerset Area Junior High School. For the last eight years he was an active member of the Rockwood and Somerset wrestling teams where, in his short life, he managed to win 56 medals, 58 trophies, five division titles, four regional titles, place fifth in 2004 in the Mountain Conference, and competed twice in the Pa. State Championships, placing ninth in 2005. Chris was also captain of his 2005 8th grade football team and was set to compete on this year's Eagles freshman team. He is survived by his father and mother, Kenneth and Tina (Sarver) Truxal; sisters, Ashley and Taylor Truxal and Maxine Nichols; grandparents, Kenneth and Sharon (Morrison) Truxal, James and Tawna Sarver, and Kathleen Diehl; great-grandfather, Chester Truxal; aunts and uncles; Richard and Romanne Truxal, Dave and Danielle (Truxal) Balog, Jennifer (Sarver) and Mark Hoffman, and James Sarver Jr.; and cousins, Tonya Truxal, Krystal and Daniel Balog, and Nathan and Devin Hoffman. Chris is also survived by his family in North Huntington Township, birth mother, Kimberly Marino; grandparents, Vince and Beverly Marino; aunts and uncles, Dean and Kelly Marino, Misty Marino and Scott Marino, and cousins, Cody and Jake Kramer and Vince and Marissa Marino. Friends and family will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a time of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday.
