Born April 12, 1896, in Francofonte (Siracuso) Sicily, Italy, he was a son of Salvatore and Teresa (Cascio) Turillo. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, Rose Rascona, who died June 10, 1937; second wife, the former Concetta Cottone, who died Nov. 17, 1982; infant son, Joseph; daughter, Frances Holsopple; and two brothers, John and Carmello. Survived by these children: Theresa, wife of Vincent Petrillo, Harrisburg; Samuel, married to the former Patricia Shirk, Jennerstown; Josephine, wife of Fred Marker, Somerset; Carmello, married to the former Maureen Hale, Gaithersburg, Md.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was a brother of Antonio, Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Boswell; Boswell Post No. 461, American Legion; Boswell Lodge No. 1780, S.O.I., where he was a past officer. He was an Army veteran of World War I, prominent businessman and longtime Jennerstown resident. He owned and operated the Highway Cafe, now Turillo's Steak House. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday followed by S.O.I. service. Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Church with Father Samuel Tomaselli. Interment, family mausoleum, Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Daily American, August 8, 1986 [T694]
