"Red" Turner, 66, of Marklcysburg, passed away Dec. 11, 2001 in his home with his family and friends at his side. He was born Oct. 18, 1935 in Mt. Braddock. Son of the late Grant Thomas and Alice Gilroy Turner DeVault. Preceding him in death besides his parents arc a brother, Thomas Grant Turner, and father and mother in law John and Bessie Spear. Surviving are is wife of 45 years Beverly J. Spear Turner, children: John R. "Rusty" Turner and wife Pamela of Markleysburg; Diana Lucy and friend John of Brownsville, Pa.; Gerald E. "Jerry" Turner and wife Wanda; Rodney S. Turner and wife Beverly K.; Craig R. Turner and wife Lohni, all of Markleysburg; Charles Bradley Turner and wife Renee of Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren: Timothy Aaron Lucy and wife Joni of Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; Christopher M. Lucy and wife Heather of Chalk Hill; Robby Turner; Nicole Turner; Rodney S. Turner II; Jonathan Turner; Holly Sisler; Ryne Turner; Jared Turner; Jason Turner, all of Markleysburg; and Bridget Turner of Bruceton Mills, W.Va. A great-granddaughter: Devyn Lucy of Chalk Hill; two sisters, Mary Lou Bates of Zeigler, Ill., and Ruth Sumey of Markleysburg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Red attended the New Life Covenant Church of God and was a charter member of the Markleysburg Henry Clay Volunteer Fire Department. He was former co-owner of the Spear Convalescent Home and former owner of the C.R. Turner Trucking Co. and Turner Farms. He was known for his talent of looming tobogans for children throughout the world. He was associated with the Turner Funeral Home and was instrumental in the operation of funeral homes in Pa. and W.V. He was employed many years ago by the Ralph Glisan Lumber Co. and the Glisan's service station. He was also employed by the Arnold Fike and Jess Maust Construction companies for many years. He was an avid golfer and loved the outdoors. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Rodney S. Turner Funeral Home, 254 Main St., Markleysburg, (724) 329-5706. Service will be held in New Life Covenant Church of God, Route 40 Markleysburg at 11 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Wesley Duncan and Rev. Jerry Steele officiating. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made (sic) be made to: Caring People Foundation, P.O. Box 81, Markleysburg, Pa. 15459.
