He had been in failing health for more than a year, although his condition had not been considered critical. News of his death came as a shock to his family and friends in this section. Mr. Turner was about seventy years of age. He was born at Grantsville, a son of Joshua and Almira Curley Turner, and had spent practically his entire life in this community. For many years he successfully operated a large farm in this section. Surviving are his wife, the former Maude Pope, a native of this community, two sons, Frank Turner, at home, and Weaver Turner, Frostburg, and a daughter, Katherine Turner, Wellsburg, Pa., a sister, Mrs. Jennie Weaver, Buchannon, W.Va., and a brother, William Turner, Frostburg. Funeral rites were conducted Saturday afternoon from the home by Rev Virgil R. Gillum, pastor of the Grantsville Methodist charge, and interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, under the supervision of William Winterberg, local mortician. Serving as pallbearers were Messars. Earl Michael, Scott Layman, Herbert Pope, John Robertson and Harry Robertson.
