Turney, one of Confluence's oldest residents, died at her home on Sterner Street on Wednesday, March 8 at 4 p.m. She was 83 years, 3 months and 18 days old, having been born on Nov. 11, 1860, in Garrett County, Md., the daughter of the late Isaiah and Rebecca Whipkey Miller. Her girlhood days were spent in Addison, Pa. She married Marshall Turney in 1885 and in 1895 moved to Confluence, where she resided until her death. Mrs. Turney was respected by many friends and acquaintances in this territory. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church. Two sons, her husband and one grandson preceded her to the grave. She is survived by one son, John, of Confluence; also by seven grandchildren. The funeral services were held in her home on Saturday afternoon, in charge of Rev. F. A. Webb, pastor of the Methodist Church. Interment was made in the Addison Cemetery by C. B. Humbert, mortician. Meyersdale Republican, March 16, 1944
