"Jack" Turney, 62, of Confluence, died Dec. 20, 1993, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born July 2, 1931, in Confluence. Son of the late John I. and Laura (Bowlin) Turney. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Edith C. Bittinger. Survived by children: John Jr., of Washington, Pa; Sarah Bowman, Farmington, and Crystal and Jason Turney, both of Confluence; four stepchildren: Howard Lancaster of Confluence; Paul Lancaster, Dallas, Texas; Linda Randall, Confluence, and Charles Lancaster of Addison; three grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. Also six sisters: Ruth Lakatosh of E. McKeesport; Mary Matthews, Clairton; Jean Tolin, Owensboro, Ky.; Neva Bowlin, Confluence; Lois Alcott, Darragh, and Julia Thomas, Farmington. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Member of the Confluence VFW Post 7250 and the Grantsville (Md.) American Legion and Carpenters Local 1024 of Cumberland, Md. Friends will be received from 2 until 9 p.m. Tuesday (today) at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Thomas Charles officiating.
