He was stricken ill at a friend's home in Uniontown; however, later he was able to be brought to his home in Fort Hill, where he passed away. His death comes as a shock to his family and many friends. John Turney, aged 64 years, 7 months and 7 days, was born near Silbaugh, Addison Township. He was married to Emma Davis, who preceded him in death by 13 years. Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Russell Sechler, of Fort Hill; Mrs. Ray Dwire, of Kingwood; Mrs. Leicester Hiles, of Cassellman; and sons, Lawrence, of Kingwood; Floyd and Chalmer, at home; and 12 grandchildren, and the following sisters: Mrs. Venie Wear, of Wheeling, W.Va.; Mrs. George J. Durst, Fort Hill; Mrs. George P. Smith, Mrs. Jacob Miller, and Savannah Turney, of Somerfield; and one brother, Norman Turney, with whom he made his home in Fort Hill. Funeral services were conducted in the Christian Church in Confluence, of which he was a faithful member, on November 28, at 2:30 o'clock. Interment was made in the St. Paul-Addison Township Cemetery, with Mortician Humbert of Confluence in charge. Meyersdale Republican, December 12, 1940
