Turney, 91, Markleton RD 1, died Feb. 7, 1998 at the home of his granddaughter and her husband, Beth and Michael Potochar. Born May 21, 1906 in Addison Township, son of the late John W. and Emma (Davis) Turney. Preceded in death by his wife, Olive (Dwire), a son, Lawrence Jr., a daughter, Betty Jane Sanner, and a grandson, Rex Turney. Survived by a son, Elwood Duane and his wife, Barbara (Cresswell) of Akron, Ohio, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Ruth Sechler of Confluence. Also a close friend, Helen Knotter of Somerset. Member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and retired as a mail carrier from the U.S. Postal Service after 32 years of service. Friends received from 2-9 p.m. today (Monday) at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. John Snyder officiating.
