Born Dec. 1, 1923, at Keysers Ridge, Md., a son of Esther (Hanft) Turney, Belleville, Pa., and the late Henry Earl Turney. Attended Grace Lutheran Church, Friendsville. Retired after 50 years of service as equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 37. Survivors include his wife, Betty Elaine (Spear) Turney; 2 sons, Vaughn Robert Turney and wife, Geraldine, and Merle Kenneth Turney Jr. and wife, Donna, all of Friendsville; 2 brothers, Jim Turney, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., and Harold Turney, Boothwyn, Pa.; 2 sisters, Ruth Baker, Belleville, and Shirley Baddorf, Colmar. Also 2 granddaughters, Leslie Turney, Friendsville, and Teresa Turney, Markleysburg; 1 grandson, Chris Turney, Friendsville, and 1 great grandson, Dorsie (DJ.) Fisher, Marleysburg. Friends received 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 1 and 7 to 9 p.m, Tuesday at the Newman Funeral Home, Friendsville, Md. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev.
