Turney, 80, Somerset, died Jan. 21, 2004, at The Heritage. Born May 22, 1923, in Sipesville, he is the son of the late Wilbur and Mabel (Romesburg) Turney. Also preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Brougher) Turney, who died Jan. 20, 2004; brothers Harold and Kenneth, an infant sister, niece, Valerie Murray and nephew Edward Brougher. Survived by sister-in-law Mary Ann Turney, Mich., nieces and nephews David Beistel, Kay Pugh, Joyce Shaulis, Linda Onafrey and Sue Johnston; great nieces and nephews Sue, Kristian, Michael and April Pugh, Andy Baker, Nicholas and Emily Shaulis, Michelle Campling, Thomas Johnston, Jeffrey, Katherine and Kristine Murray. Member of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, Somerset Lodge 358 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, Jaffa Shrine and Somerset County Shrine Club. A 1941 graduate of Somerset High School, surveyor for PennDOT and retired as an auditor for Wagner Insurance Company. Friends will be received for Playford and Dorothy from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Service for Playford and Dorothy will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dennis Doebler officiating. Interment in Casebeer Cemetery. There will be viewing at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Contributions may be made to Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, 10377 Somerset Pike, Somerset, Pa. 15501.
