Turney, 72, of Stoystown RD 1 (Ralphton), died unexpectedly April 22 at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Sept, 22, 1901 in Somerset County, a daughter of Robert and Emma Custer Pugh. Preceded in death by parents; husband, James M., who died July 2, 1971; a daughter Edna and a brother Bert. Survived by these children: J. Robert, married to the former Henriette Clement of Somerset RD 5; Sara, wife of Ralph Leventry of Stoystown RD 2; Ethel, wife of Paul Lohr of Meyersdale RD 3; Charles, married to the former Helen Cottle of Boswell; Violet, wife of Sheldon Bedford of Rockwood RD 3; John, married to the former Eva Schlosnagle of Latrobe; Verna and Patricia, both at home; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sister of Ethel, Mrs. Gladys Faidley and Dale all of Somerset; Mrs. Maud Wills of Huntsville, Ala.; Donald of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Dorothy Byrd of Hershey; Warren of Berlin and Mrs. Grace Dallas of Shawnee-Mission, Kan. Member of Horner Lutheran Church. Retired in 1963 as postmistress at Ralphton having served 25 years. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and until noon Thursday at the Joseph G. Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St. Boswell. Body will be removed to Homer Lutheran Church for viewing from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Interment in church cemetery. Somerset Bulletin, April 23, 1974 [T734]
