Born July 29, 1921, in Ligonier. Daughter of the late Eugene Ripley and Esther Henrietta Caroline (Johnson) Riggs. Preceded in death by parents and husband Willard Hershel Uhl, on July 25, 1992; stepson Gary W. Uhl, and brother, Dr. Robert E. Riggs, Survived by two sons, John E. Baltzer, Jr., married to the former Terri Swanson, Olympia, Wash., and David R. Baltzer, married to the former Laurie Saylor, Strasburg. Also survived by two stepdaughters: Mrs. Theodore H. (Karen) Fisher II, Rochester Hills, Mich., and Mrs. D. Delbert (Ann) Robinson, Newark, Ohio; three grandsons: Matthew, David, and Steven Baltzer; five step-grandchildren: Ted Fisher III, Melanie (Fisher) Nally, Keith Uhl, Gary S. Uhl, and Adam Porsch and great-grandson, Marcus Tyler Baltzer. Sister of Sidney W. Riggs, Friedens RD 1; Mrs. James (Laura) Reed, New Florence RD 1; Mrs. Nancy Hay Weyand and Mrs. Robert (Mary Jo) Hall, both of Friedens RD 1. 1938 graduate of Ligonier High School. Received bachelor of arts degree in education in 1942 from Thiel College. High school teacher of English, French, Latin and Journalism in Penn Township, Westmoreland County, for three years and Berlin Brothersvalley High School for 32 years from 1950 until retiring in 1982. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and A.A.R.P. Life member of Pa. Retired School Employees, Somerset County Retired Public School Employees, P.S.E.A., Pa. Association of Retired State Employees, Thiel College Alumni Association, Somerset County Artists Association, Laurel Arts. Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset, Rev. Glenn E. Sadler officiating. No viewing at the church. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to Somerset "In Touch" Hospice, 651 S.
