Umberger, 87, 531 E. King St., Chambersburg, died Nov. 3, 1980, in Fayetteville, Pa., of natural illness of one year. Born Nov. 19, 1892, in Central City, Somerset County, son of the late Henry and Flora (Hollsopple) Umberger. Protestant by faith, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike for 15 years, and later was employed by the Chambersburg Public Opinion as a newspaper deliverer. His wife, Sarah E. Berkey, died Nov. 8, 1957. Surviving are six sons and one daughter: Lewis H. of 204 5th Ave., Chambersburg; Harold R. and Dorsey J., both of Grand Junction, Colo.; Larry B. of Ft. Loudon, Pa.; William Grant of Chambersburg; Arthur D., Baltimore, Md.; and Mrs. Donald (Ada) Ringler of Arvada, Colo.; 24 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons; two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Anna) Brant of Youngstown, Ohio, and Mrs. Charles (Clara) Colman of Johnstown; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Glade United Church of Christ near Berlin, the Rev. Wayne Sautter officiating. Interment, Glade Cemetery. Family will receive friends in the Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Viewing will be held at the church one hour before Friday's service.
