He died of a fracture of the skull and internal injuries five hours later at Price Hospital, Confluence. State police from the Jennerstown substation said they learned that Mr. Umble was walking along the highway from Confluence to his home in Ursina when he was struck and hurt fatally. He was removed to the hospital by a passing motorist. Mr. Umble was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was born in the State of Maryland on Nov. 16, 1885. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle Umble, and eight children: Leroy, overseas with the Army; Helen, Claudine, Charles, Paul, Mary Kathryn, Janet and Ronald, at home. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Humbert Funeral Home. Interment in the Old Bethel Cemetery near Kingwood. Meyersdale Republican, April 5, 1945
