  UPDYKE
  
  John W. Updyke Sr., 74, of Camoset Village, Johnstown, formerly of
  Thomas Mills, died March 18, 2002 at Memorial Medical Center in
  Johnstown.  Born Jan. 30, 1928 in Johnstown.  Son of Thomas and Helen
  (Mitchell) Updyke.  Preceded in death by parents, brothers James,
  William and Thomas, and sister Helen Ashcom.  Survived by wife of 51
  years the former Margaret L. Blough; children Ruth A. married to
  Marvin Cameron, New Cumberland, Pa.; John W. Jr. married to the
  former Donna Mayak, Stoystown RD; and Barbara D. married to James
  Crowder, Johnstown; six grandchildren and three
  great-grandchildren.  Brother of Mary Chamber, Johnstown; Harriet
  Sensor, Claysburg; Anna Hutchens, North Carolina; and Catherine
  Sheldon, Johnstown.  Member of Benscreek Evangelical Lutheran Church
  and U.S.W.A.  Army Air Force veteran of World War II.  Retired
  employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp. Johnstown plant.  Friends received
  from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Route
  403 and Church Road, Davidsville, where service will be held 11 a.m.
  Wednesday, Rev. Edward N. Corneilson officiating.  Interment
  Grandview cemetery, Johnstown.  Graveside military rite by Menoher
  Post 155 V.F.W. ritual team.
