Valentine, 66, Stoystown RD 2, died Oct. 14, 1988, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Feb. 8, 1922, in Derry, son of Matson J. and Sarah (Steckman) Valentine. Preceded in death by parents, son, David, and brothers, James and Charles. Survived by wife of 46 years, the former Janet Berkebile; sons, Gary, Fort Washington, Md., and Curtis, at home. Brother of: Mrs. Edward (Alverta) Semich, and Jean Ann, both of Lebanon, Tenn.; Dorothy Huck, Round Lake Beach, Ill.; Joan Ann Dean, Streamwood, Ill.; Robert R., and Lee George, both of Johnstown. Retired rural carrier for Stoystown Post Office. Member of Kantner United Methodist Church, Harrisburg Consistory, Somerset Post 181 American Legion, Somerset Post 554 V.F.W., Somerset Amateur Radio Operators Club and American Legion Golf League. Past master of Somerset Lodge 358 F&AM, Army Veteran of World War II with three battlestars and drove veterans to VA Hospitals. Family received friends Sunday and will receive friends 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, STOYSTOWN, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Revs. Ed and Brenda Fritz, officiating.
