VanMETER Charles Kenneth "Tiz" VanMeter, 58, Oldtown, Md., died Saturday, Sept. 30, 1989, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born April 27, 1931, in Oldtown, Md., he was the son of the late Emory C. and Thelma M. (Gordon) VanMeter. He was a carpenter for Wire Enterprises in Washington, D.C.; an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict; was a member of the VFW Post in Springfield, Va.; and the Loyal Order of Moose, College Park. Surviving are two sons: David P. VanMeter and Michael J. VanMeter, both of Bedford; two daughters: Mrs. Joy D. Gill, Williamsport; and Mrs. Linda D. Whitcomb, Bedford; three brothers: Melvin V. VanMeter, Gardner; and Richard E. VanMeter and John R. VanMeter, both of Cumberland, Md.; three sisters: Mrs. Shirley M. McCann, Oldtown, Md.; Mrs. Mary E. Benson, Mount Holly Springs; and Mrs. Barbara E. Winebrenner, Lonaconing, Md.; and six grandchildren. Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, where services were conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Victor E. Hamer. Interment, Union Cemetery, Centerville.
