VanSickel and a companion, named Kreger, from Uniontown were hunting together and lost sight of each other in the brush. Kreger fired at a rabbit and VanSickel, who was in range but unseen by Kreger, was shot in the neck. Kreger, on discovering that he had shot his friend, got assistance and started for the Frantz Hospital, Confluence, with the wounded man, in an automobile. But when the hospital was reached, VanSickel was dead. His body was taken back to Somerfield and given in charge of Undertaker H. H. Rodehaver who prepared it for burial. The funeral took place at the home of the deceased about two miles west of Somerfield at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. VanSickel is survived by his wife and two daughters.
