VanSickle, 75, Manchester, Pa., died June 16, 1989, in Memorial Hospital, York. Born June 11, 1914, in Markleysburg, a son of the late Jacob and Etta (Thomas) VanSickle. Preceded in death by his wife, Edna (Green), six brothers and three sisters. Surviving are a son, Clarence Jr., Dover, Pa.; a daughter, Donna Throne, Mt. Wolf, Pa.; two grandsons and two brothers, Ralph, Farmington, Pa.; and Paul, Markleysburg. Retired in 1975 from Columbia Gas Co. where he worked for 30 years. A member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church of Manchester, the Zion View Lions Club and the Union Fire Company of Manchester. U.S. Army veteran of World War II, member of the Mt. Wolf VFW Post 2493 and past commander of Somerset County VFW. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Monday at Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence. A graveside service is 11 a.m. Tuesday in Addison Cemetery, the Rev. John R. Hickson officiating. Daily American, June 17, 1989 [V0046]
