(Somerset, Pa.): April 21, 1880 In the death of Jonathan Woy, Stonycreek loses one of her best citizens. His death justifies the use of the stereotyped expression "another old land mark gone." Mr. Woy had not yet reached the Scriptural allotment in years of three score and ten, yet since nearly forty years ago until bis last and only illness he was prominent in his labors of love and deeds of charity. He enjoyed the best of health until the last year of his life, since which time he has been rather trail and he looked forward to a speedy end. Jonathan Woy was born in 1822. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Boyer at the age of 20. He was the father of one son and three daughters, all of whom survive him. He never punished bis children and brought up his family without the rod. After his marriage he entered the employ of Mr. Jacob Walker, for sixty dollars a year and board. During the year Mr. Woy earned sufficient to pay all family expenses and the whole amount of his labor was saved the first year. With such a start in life, the success that followed was the natural result of economy and industry.
