All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ AMELIUS CARR WAGNER Amelius Carr Wagner, born in Elk Lick Township, Somerset County, Pa., Aug. 9, 1859, died in Salisbury, July 26, 1941, where he resided for many years. The immediate cause of his death was a cerebral hemorrhage, but he had been confined to his bed for a long time, suffering from ailments incident to old age. He was a son of Rachel (Newman) Wagner, and was twice married, first to a Miss Harman, in Garrett County, Md., where they resided for some years, and where the first wife preceded him in death nearly 50 years ago. A few years later he was united in marriage with Miss Fannie Durst, also of Garrett County, Md., where they continued to reside for a while, but later located in Salisbury, where he was well known as a good citizen, husband and father for many years. He is survived by his widow and these children: Wilbur of Salisbury, Olla, wife of Jesse V. Hillegass of Randolph, Ohio, and Lulu, wife of John George of Detroit, Mich. One sister, Mrs. Samuel Christner of Boynton, also survives. The surviving children were all born to the second wife. Funeral services were conducted at the Wagner home, Monday, at 2:00 p.m., by Rev. A. M. Wright, pastor of the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, of which Mr. Wagner was a member. Burial was made in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Stanley M. Thomas, Salisbury mortician. There were many beautiful floral tributes. Meyersdale Republican, July 31, 1941
