Born May 22, 1920, in Connellsville, daughter of Charles W. and Edna Mae (Hoover) Kern. Preceded in death by parents; husband Cecil in 1969; brother, Alva Kern and sister Dorothy Eyester. Survived by children, Ruth Anne, married to Kent Estler of Boonton, N.J.; and Charles A. married to the former Jayne Kreger of Shanksville; grandchildren: Cora Han, Brian Estler, Leigh Snyder, Benjamin Wagner, and Lara Stutzman and 11 great-grandchildren. A 1938 graduate of Connellsville High School. Part time secretary and bookkeeper for 25 years for Oaks Poultry, Stoystown and 12 years for Shanksville Auto Co. Served 16 years as bookkeeper for Camp Allegheny where her husband cheerfully served the Lord as caretaker. Member of Shanksville United Methodist Church where she served as secretary for 23 years. Member of the Fourth Society of Farm Women and Somerset RSVP. She enjoyed cake decorating, making scrapbooks, photography, and family activities. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Shanksville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Randy C. Newell and the Rev. Marlin Miller officiating. Interment Greenridge Cemetery near Connellsville. Memorial contributions may be given to Shanksville U.M. Church, P.O.
