Born in Fort Ashby April 24, 1916, he was the son of the late William Michael and Ethel Rebecca (Davis) Wagoner. A retired teacher at Mineral County Vo-Tech School, Keyser, WV., he was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific. A retired chief petty officer for the U.S. Naval Reserve in Cumberland, he had been a refrigeration service engineer. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Fort Ashby; Fort Ashby Post 6667, VFW; the Springfield Puritan Club, and the National Education Association. Surviving are his widow, Mary Angeline (Hiner) Wagoner; two sons: William Lee Wagoner and Timothy A. Wagoner, both of Springfield; two daughters: Mrs. Donna L. McDonald, Springfield; and Mrs. Mary E. Miller, Fort Ashby, WV; two brothers: James V. Wagoner, Bowling Green, Md.; and Samuel L. Wagoner, Springfield, Va.; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Pyles, Fort Ashby, WV; Mrs. Ruth Morris, Cumberland, Md.; and Mrs. Knotts, Wellersburg; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home. Services were conducted in Trinity United Methodist Church Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. James Shepherd and the Rev. Sumner Sawyer.
