WAHL Carl Emert Wahl, 88, of Greensboro, N.C., formerly of Sewiekley, died Feb. 18, 1996, in Greensboro. Wahl was born June 23, 1907, in Summit Township. He was the son of the late Harvey Edward and Elizabeth (Siegner) Wahl. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Aneitha Hughes, on Aug. 29, 1981; two brothers: Homer M. and Paul, E.; and a sister, Grace Carver. He is survived by two sons: Rev. Hughes E. Wahl, Chesapeake Beach, Md.; and Jeffry P. Wahl, Greensboro, N.C.; six grandchildren and three sisters: Hilda W. Baker, Jennerstown; Hazel W. Shockey, Central City; and Martha Bittner, Front Royal, Va. Wahl taught school for one term and then accepted an accounting position with the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp. in Aliquippa. He retired as assistant works controller after 46 years of service. While living in Sewickley, he served as treasurer on the borough council. He was also a member of the Planning Commission for 25 years, for which he received the State Chrostwaite Award for Community Service. Wahl was a member of the Sewickley Presbyterian Church and the National Association of Accountants. He was also a past master of Doric Lodge 630 F&AM. After retiring, he moved to Jennerstown, where he served ten more years as treasurer of the Jenner Area Joint Sewage Authority and the Water Authority. Wahl also researched and published The History of the Christopher Wahl Family (1814-1976). For the past seven years, he resided in Greensboro. Funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian Church of Sewickley. Rev. David McFarlane officiated. Interment, Sewickley Cemetery. New Republic, April 18, 1996 [W0083-0084]
