Born Feb. 28, 1933 in Elk Lick Township, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Mull) Wahl. He is also preceded in death by one brother. He is survived by his wife Virginia of Newcastle; one daughter, Teresa Ackley of Newcastle; one son, Tim Chamberlain of Dickinson, N.D.; two sisters: Della Burkholder of McKeesport, Pa., and Mable Kreger of Springhill, Fla.; two brothers: Ray Wahl of Worland, Wy., and David Wahl of Schoharie, New York; four grandchildren: Troy, Michelle, and Melissa Ackley and Kayla Jo Chamberlain; and one great-grandchild, Morgan Lei Ackley. Mr. Wahl grew up in Keystone and attended both the former S.J. Miller Grade School in Vim, and Meyersdale High School. He joined the Army in 1953, serving in Company A 808th during the Korean Conflict. He received his G.E.D. while in the Army, and served in the Army Reserves for eight years. Claude moved to Wyoming in 1970 and married Virginia (Williams) Chamberlain on April 1, 1973 at Newcastle. While living in Newcastle, Claude worked for Dixon Brothers, and also drove truck for True Oil. They moved to Moorcroft in 1973 where he worked as foreman for Operators, Inc. (Tenneco Oil Co.) until 1986 when he had a stroke. Claude and Virginia moved to Newcastle in 1992 to be nearer to family. He loved hunting and fishing and working in his yard. He was a member of Upton Lodge #38 AF&AM, and was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason; he belonged to Kalif Shrine Temple of Sheridan, Upton Chapter;1132 Order of the Eastern Star, Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a life member of the National Rifle Association. Masonic funeral services were held Aug. 8 at Worden Funeral Chapel with Earl Christensen as Worshipful Master. V.F.W. Post #2516 conducted Military Graveside Rites in Greenwood Cemetery.
