WALBERT Former Principal Of Berlin Schools Fatally Stricken "Uncle George" Walbert Mourned by Former Pupils and Friends BERLIN, Oct. 9 - Prof. George E. Walbert of Munhall, former principal of Berlin schools, was stricken suddenly with a fatal heart attack in his home early last Friday morning. He was born in Allentown, Pa., graduated from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster and received the Master of Arts degree from Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, Pa. After being in charge of the Berlin schools 1908 and 1909, he went to Johnstown where he taught in the high school for ten years. From there he went to Waynesburg College where he taught for one year, later being elected high school principal in Waynesburg, which position he held until 1922 when he went to Munhall High School where he remained as an instructor for 24 years. During the last eight years he was the German teacher. He was also director of the Boy Scout Council in Munhall for many years. Mr. Walbert served in the field of education for 46 years and was well known and highly respected in his chosen profession. The Munhall Daily Messenger said of his passing: "Uncle George Walbert has passed to the great beyond. He was dubbed 'Uncle George' by the school children who loved him and will miss him greatly." In 1914 Mr. Walbert married Miss Annie Zorn, one of the popular daughters of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Zorn of Berlin. Their union was a very happy one. During vacation periods the Walberts spent a part of each summer at the old Zorn homestead in Berlin, now owned and occupied by Mrs. Walbert's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob B. Schrock. Mr. Walbert was a member of Berlin Lodge I.O.O.F., the Munhall Presbyterian Church, Waynesburg F. & A. M. Masonic Lodge and of Syria Mosque of the Mystic Shrine, in Pittsburgh. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers, all of Allentown, Pa. Funeral services were held at his late residence at 1:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7, with Rev. Wm. S. Stoddard of Munhall, officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Berlin, in charge of Charles and Joseph Zorn, morticians of Braddock, Pa. Out-of-town relatives and friends attending the services in Berlin were: Wm. Walbert and sister, Mrs. Gordon, of Allentown; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zorn, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Zorn, Braddock; Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Wherry, Mrs. H. G.
