Walker Killed By Falling From Top of A Silo While at Work Falling 35 feet from the inside top of a silo, Earl F. Walker, 36, of Friedens R.D. 2, was fatally injured, last Friday about 1:15 p.m. on the Charles W. Rodamer farm, Somerset R.D. 5. Walker, a professional silo filler, had gone to the Rodamer farm at 12:30 and climbed the silo to get the correct height for tubing, when he lost his balance and plunged headlong into the pit. He was taken to the Somerset Community Hospital, where he died at 2 p.m. He is survived by his parents, Wesley and Sadie Platt Walker, Friedens, R.D. 2., his wife, the former Gladys Yoder, and three children; also by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Clarence Walker, Somerset R.D. 5; Mrs. Mervin Trent, Friedens R.D. 2; Mrs. John Stoy, Somerset; Mrs. Mahlon Schrock, Somerset R.D. 5; Mrs. Elmer Schrock, Berlin R.D. 4, and Roy Walker, at home. A brother, Pvt. Guy Walker was killed in action in Germany last March. Meyersdale Republican, October 11, 1945
