Walker, 60, of Brubaker St., Berlin, died Jan. 9, 1973. Friends received after 2 p.m. Thursday in the Johnson and Son Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Walker, 60, Brubaker Street, Berlin, died Jan. 9, 1973. Born March 6, 1912 in Berlin a son of the late Franklin M. and Emma (Schrock) Walker. Also preceeded [sic] in death by a brother, W. Jay. Survived by his wife, the former Mabel Deem. These children: Mrs. Shirley Mull, Denver, Ind.; Mrs. Florabelle Lichty, Naples, Fla.Ao Mrs. Emma Jean Dillinger, Spring City, Pa.; Kenneth, Youngstown, Ohio; Mrs. Judy Durst, Berlin; 11 grand children. Brother of J. Orlo of Berlin and Leland F., RD 4, Berlin. Member of the Brothersvalley Church of the Brethern [sic], Brotherton; the Meyersdale Loyal Order of Moose, and he operated the Ernest Walker Garage in Berlin. He joined the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department in 1935, was elected chief in 1947, and Sept. 1972 he was honored for being fire chief for 25 years. He was a trustee of the Somerset County Fire School, a member of the joint fire prevention committee and the ways and means committee of the Somerset County Fire Association. He was a member of the Somerset County FiremenAos Relief Association; a member of the four-county joint law and legislation committee, which includes Somerset, Bedford, Blair and Cambria counties. He was the most active member of the $2000 Somerset County Fire Association drawing. A member of the committee for the erection of the Berlin Community Building, a member of the committee for the purchase of the communityAos last two new fire trucks. He always participated in the Memorial Day parades, representing the fire department, he was a state fire marshall and a state fire warden for over 25 years. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Thursday in the Johnson and Son Funeral Home, Berlin. Other arrangements are incomplete. The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department will hold memorial services in the funeral home Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Daily American, 10 January 1973
