Walker, 79, Meyersdale RD 1, died Aug. 15, 1984, at Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born Sept. 27, 1904, in Summit Township, a son of the late Frank E. and Minnie (Fritz) Walker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Miller; a son, Frank; a brother, Clarence; and a sister, Gertrude Enos. He is survived by four daughters: Ruth Elaine, wife of the late Samuel Philip, Meyersdale RD 3; Mary Jane, wife of Lawrence Bittner, Beaver; Janet, wife of Dale DuPont, Castalia, Ohio; Joan, wife of Donald Mankamyer, Meyersdale; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was a brother of Norman F., Somerset, and Paul N., Dearborn, Mich. He was a member of the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and a retired farmer. He served as a Summit Township Supervisor for 34 years. He was a life member and director of the Somerset County Fair Association since 1956. He was instrumental in forming the Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative in 1938 where he served as director for 26 years, president eight years, vice president five years, and secretary-treasurer for five years. He was a member of the board of directors of the Allegheny Electric Cooperative for 10 years. He was a member of the Somerset County Planning Commission for 20 years and served as chairman of the Somerset County ASCS for 20 years. Friends will he received after 7 p.m. Thursday at the Leckemby Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Lloyd Wilson officiating. Interment, Fritz Cemetery.
