He had been suffering from heart ailments for the last five years, but was seriously ill only one day before his death. Mr. Walker was a mine worker and had risen to be a mine foreman. He lived all his life within a short distance of the place where he was born on May 16, 1888, a son of George P. and Ida C. (Staup) Walker, and was two days short of 60 years in age at his passing. He was a member of the Masonic and Moose lodges of Meyersdale, and of the United Mine Workers. His wife, nee Maggie E. Mull, died in May, 1933. He is survived by two daughters - Mrs. Pauline Sheets of Clarksville, Pa., and Mrs. Grace Engle of Barrelville, Md.; by three sisters - Mrs. Milton P. Bowman of Salisbury, R.D. 1; Mrs. John O. May of Boynton and Mrs. Isabel Holler of Akron, O.; one brother, George W. Walker of Akron, and five grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted in the Thomas Chapel at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 16. Rev. Gerald Polman, pastor of the Main Street Brethren Church, Meyersdale, officiated. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Salisbury, in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas.
