Walker, 79, of Huckleberry Hwy., Friedens (Stonycreek Twp.), died June 30, 2002 in Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Son of Richard and Maggie (Miller) Walker. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Glenn and Kenneth. Survived by his wife of 55 years, the former LaRue Kimmel; a daughter Rebekah, married to Dennis Loughran of Vero Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, John Mills married to the former Leslie Duppstadt of Berlin, and Julianne, married to Mark Gill of Wooster, Ohio; great-grandchildren, John Mills Jr., Kayla Mills and Austin Gill. Also survived by brother Dayton of Central City, and Elbert "Jim," married to the former Dorothy Baker of Friedens. A 1940 graduate of Stonycreek Twp. High School. Retired Stonycreek Twp. farmer and former bus driver in Shanksville-Stonycreek School District. Served as Judge of Elections in Stonycreek Twp, for many years and received an award for voting in every election for 50 years. Member of Unity United Church of Christ where he had served as Deacon, Elder and choir member. Lifetime member of Hillcrest Grange. Sang with the Roof Garden Chorus and "Heart and Soul Barbershop Quarter." Received the 1977 Outstanding Conservationist Award. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. Viewing from 10 a.m. until service at l l a.m. Wednesday at Unity United Church of Christ. Rev. Jay E. Shaffer officiating. Interment Glade Cemetery.
