"Jack" Walker Sr., 73, of School Avenue, Jerome died unexpectedly Oct. 7, 1999, at home. Born Oct. 2, 1926, in Jerome. Son of Ernest and Marion (Harris) Walker. Preceded in death by parents, infant grandson Jeremy Shaulis, sisters Arlene North, Bertha Schultz and Marion Ginter, and brothers Charles and Ernest. Survived by wife, the former Rita Wolf; children: John R. Jr., married to Terri Yuricha of Beaver Falls, and Rita "Dolly," wife of Dale Shaulis, Jerome; grandchildren John Walker, Pamela (Walker) Gantz, Elaine (Shaulis) Stroscio and Jason Shaulis; great-grandchildren, Logan and Morgan Gantz and brothers James of Bellville, Ill., and William of Fayetteville, N.C. Navy veteran of World War II. Member of the Jerome Volunteer Fire Department since 1958, serving as chief for 20 years and captain of the fire police for approximately 5 years. Retired employee of the American Red Cross. Former Scoutmaster in Jerome for 15 years, fire warden for many years. Would have observed 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 18, 2000. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Route 403 and Church Road, Davidsville, where service will he held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Larry Hoover, pastoral leader, St. Andrew's Lutheran Church presiding. Interment, Maple Spring Cemetery near Jerome. Firemen and Fire Police will pay final respects at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Daily American, October 8, 1999 [W0242]
