WALKER Ray O. Walker, one of Brothersvalley's most prominent farmers, died March 7, at the Hazel McGilvery Hospital after an illness of ten days. A son of Ephraim J. and Sadie Berkley Walker (deceased), he was born March 6, 1887, on the farm where he resided, he was 54 years, 1 day. Mr. Walker was a life-long member of the Pine Hill Lutheran Church, having been confirmed at an early age by the Rev. W. N. Brown. His interest in his church and Sunday school continued unabated and was marked by a rare loyalty and devotion. All departments of the church won his support, having held all the various offices in the church, a member of the choir, and also superintendent of the Sunday school. A more kind and considerate husband and father never lived. Mr. Walker was well-known and much respected by residents of Brothersvalley Township, and his loss to the community will be deeply felt. On September 28, 1910, Ray O. Walker was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Baer, their union having proved a very happy one. In addition to his bereaved wife he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Marie Alma Ream, Atlantic City, N.J., Hittie, Mt. Ephraim, N.J., Barron B., Atlantic City, N.J., and Doris LaVerne at home. Also three grandchildren, Jean Ream, Eileen Hittie and Lynn Ann Walker survive. Funeral services were conducted at the Walker home March 10, at 2:30 p.m. in charge of his pastor, Rev. Elwood Stahl, and Rev. Charles I. Rowe, former pastor of Pine Hill Lutheran Church. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Berlin, under the direction of Johnson and Son. The pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, namely, Norman Handwerk, Harry, Peter and Charles Saler, Ralph Barkley and Robert Horning. The many floral tributes which Mr. Walker received were a testimonial of the high esteem in which he was held. Meyersdale Republican, March 20, 1941
