WALKER, Robert Donald

Robert Donald Walker, 88, Somerset, died July 3, 2006 at Laurel View Village, 
Davidsville. Born May 15, 1918 in Summit Township, a son of Edward William and 
Edith (Berkley) Walker. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Gillian, Howard, 
Bert, Orion, Earl and Harold Walker; sisters, Sally Dennison and Gladys Miller. 
Also wife the former Helen Bernice Saler, who died July 4, 2006. Survived by 
daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Kathleen) Duigou, Greensburg and Pamela Walker, 
Somerset; granddaughters, Mrs. Timothy (Sarah) Hines, Berkley Springs, W.Va. and 
Elizabeth Duigou, Greensburg. A 1937 graduate of Meyersdale High School. He had 
worked as a Sales Representative for Agway, retiring in 1973 with 30 years of 
service. Followed by his partnership with the former, D.W. Rhoads Co., where he 
retired in 1981. He was raised and worked on a farm as a child. He also was an 
active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, IOOF Lodge 438 Somerset. He also 
was an avid traveler, and was known as a problem-solver. He volunteered with 
Meals On Wheels, and as a tax aide. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 
to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, with a service to 
be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset with the Rev. 
Linda J. McElroy officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. Memorial
