Walker, aged 58, of Boynton, dropped dead near his home of heart failure on Wednesday, February 26th, at about 1:30 with high blood pressure for a number of years, but was apparently in as good health as usual on the day of his death. His water pump had sprung a leak that morning, and being unable to do anything about it himself, he took it out of its position over the well and carried it to the 20th Century Garage to be repaired by welding. He stopped and talked awhile at the Robertson Motor Company, then went on to the garage. He arrived there during the lunch hour and waited until the men were finished, talking to them as usual. When the pump was welded he walked out to Route 219 with it, where on the same side of the road, he talked for a few moments with Elmer Vought. He crossed the road and fell over into the snow bank along side, without any sound sufficient for Mr. Vought to hear him. Benjamin Witt came along in a car a few minutes later and found him, and thinks he died as he arrived by his side. Mr. Walker was born in Salisbury, son of Charles and Martha (Beal) Walker. He resided practically all his life in Boynton, working as a laborer and miner, and was employed by the John C. Tressler Coal Co. in recent months. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters - Mrs. Glenn E. Schrock of Salisbury; Mrs. William Barnhart of Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Lewis Christner, of Sand Patch, the latter two the drum majorettes of the Salisbury Community Band until last year; by four sons - Frederick of West Salisbury, William, a government employee on the island of Guam; John of Baltimore, Md., and Paul, at home; by three brothers - Herbert of Johnstown; Ernest of Jerome and Clarence of Ohio, and by 12 grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. George Burkett of Boswell, preceded him in death. Mr. Walker was ordained a minister in the Church of God, of which he was a member, and was an acting preacher. Funeral services were conducted at the church in Boynton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1st. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Salisbury in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas.
