(Smucker) Walter, 104, of 636 Vine St., Greensburg, formerly of Boswell, died Dec.. 27, 1999, at home of daughter. Born March 12, 1895, in Jenner Township, daughter of John P and Addie (Ream) Smucker. Preceded in death by parents; husband John J., on May 18, 1959; son-in-law, William Ball, daughter-in-law, Florence Walter, and six sisters. Survived by daughter, Ruth Ball, with whom she resided; son Eugene, Stoughton Lake, Jennerstown; six grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Oldest member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, near Jerome. Longtime member of former Silver Ray Rebekah Lodge, Boswell. Former owner-operator of Sliding Rock Golf Course, near Jennerstown, now operated by her son, Eugene. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, the Rev. Roger L. Forty officiating.
