  Howard W. Walter, 67, of Cumberland, Md., died Sept. 21, 1975, at
  residence.  Born, Milford Township, April 14, 1908, the son of the
  late Irwin and Margaret (Brown) Walter.  Preceded by two brothers,
  three sisters.  Survived by wife, Mary; three sons: Terry of Somerset
  RD 5, Howard of San Jose, Calif., and Larry, Appalachin, N.Y.; 13
  grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.  Survived by two brothers, Ray
  of Johnstown and Earl of Ferrelton; four sisters: Dora Hostetler,
  Cairnbrook; Hazel Groover, Pittsburgh; Nelle Zimmerman, Berlin; and
  Ivy Ross, Johnstown; one stepdaughter, Anna Maria Merell, Cumberland,
  Md.  Retired from the B&O Railroad.  Friends will be received at
  Scarpelli Funeral Home, Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, Md., Tuesday and
  Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service Thursday 11 a.m., St.
  Mary's Church, Old Town Road, Cumberland.  Interment, St. Mary's
  Cemetery, Old Town Road, Cumberland. Md.
