Stevens State Park. He was born December 5, 1921, in Garrett. He is survived by two sons John Walters, Westport; Bill Walters Broadbent, Oregon; two daughters, Susan Walters, Seattle, Washington; and Eleanor Spellman, Anchorage, Alaska; two sisters, Dorothy Long, Winterhaven Fla.; and Eleanor Kowelewski, Hollywood, Fla.; and a granddaughter, Sarah granddaughter, Anchorage, Alaska. He was a graduate of Meyersdale High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh. He served in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He had worked at the Westport sawmill and was a teacher and coach at Westport School for 31 years- served as principal at the Westport Knappa's Hilda Lahti and Quincy-Mayger schools. He retired in 1985. The Rev. Joel Schmitz, Faith Lutheran Church, officiated at the funeral. Interment, Westport Cemetery. Haakinson-Groulx Mortuary, Clatskanie, was in charge of arrangements.
