All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ MARY CHARLOTTE WALTERS Mary Charlotte Walters, widow of the late Samuel Walters, died at her home on Walker Street, Garrett, at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, February 20, after a lingering illness due to a heart ailment. A daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Orndorff, she was born August 7, 1885, at Mt. Savage, Md. Her husband preceded her in death eight years ago. She is survived by the following named children: Sherman Walters, Jenners; George Walters, Berlin; Samuel Walters, in the United States Army, now stationed in South Carolina; Robert and Harold Walters, Garrett; Kathryn (Walters) Shroyer, of Garrett, and Charlotte (Walters) Bowlby, of Rockwood. She was preceded in death by four infant children and a son, Eugene Walters, killed in action in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, in World War II. She is also survived by six grandchildren and following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mabel McKenzie and Mrs. Margaret Meyers, Meyersdale; Mrs. Eva Meyers, Baltimore; and John and Russell Orndorff, Mt. Savage. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Walters' home. Rev. F. D. Witmer officiated. Interment was made in Highland Cemetery. The burial arrangements were under the direction of Johnson & Son, Berlin morticians. Meyersdale Republican, February 27, 1947
