Walters, 54, of Garrett, died suddenly Wednesday evening, May 4, 1949, in Greenville, Pa. Mr. Walters, his son Madison and nephew, Harold Walters, had just returned to their hotel room after working on the construction of a green house, when he was seized with a fatal heart attack. He was employed by the Ernie Nipe Construction Company. He was born in Garrett, March 11, 1895, the son of Albert and Sofia Walters. His wife, Mabel Romesburg Walters, died in 1930. He is survived by the following children: Madison J., and Robert Jr., of Garrett, Wilma and Dolly Ferne Walters of Baltimore, Jack, in the U.S. Navy, Norman of Johnstown, Peggy Lee and Virginia of Garrett, and Charles of Berlin, and by eight grandchildren. Also surviving are these brothers: Harry Walters of Corriganville, Md., William Walters of Garrett, George Walters of Baltimore, Jacob Walters of Cumberland, Charles Walters of Mt. Savage, and one sister, Mrs. Lottie Wills, Westernport, Md. The body was taken to the home of a brother, Harry Walters, at Corriganville by Mills and Mickey, funeral directors of Rockwood, where it remained until Sunday when it was taken to the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, where services were held at three o'clock with the Rev. Glen Keidel, pastor, officiating. Interment was made in Highland Cemetery. The following out of town people attended the funeral services: Mrs. Matt Romesburg, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sheeler, Mr. George Walters and family, Baltimore; Mrs. Mamie Miller, Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. George Bowers, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Bowlby and daughter Loretta of Rockwood, Mr. and Mrs. George Walters and family, Mr. and Mrs. William Fallon, Mrs. Robert Sivets, Berlin; Mr. and Mrs. Clark Pritts, Meyersdale; and all his brothers and his children. Mrs. Walter Wills, sister of Robert G. Walters, received word after the funeral services from her brother that her husband, Walter Wills, had died at his home in Westernport.
