Walters, 77 of Garrett died March 28, 1994, at Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born March 6, 1917, in Garrett, a son of the late Samuel S. and Mary Charlotte (Omdoff) Walters. Also preceded in death by a son, Robert Dale; sister, Kathryn Shroyer, and brothers: Eugene, Samuel and Harold. Survived by his wife, the former Doris Mayhugh, and daughters: Mary Ravenscraft, Meyersdale, RD 4, and Charlotte Clark, Meyersdale RD 3. Four grandchildren: Jill Monroe, Jacksonville, Fla.; Melissa Stewart, Meyersdale; Beverly Clark, Frostburg, Md., and Michael Clark, Meyersdale. Two great-grandchildren: Kyle Monroe and Tyler Stewart. A brother of Sherman Walters, Somerset; Charlotte Bowlby, Rockwood, and George Walters, Berlin. World War II veteran of U.S. Army. He was a POW in Germany for 22 months. A member of American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 3504. Member of Laurel Ridge Sportsman Association, Somerset. Retired from Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown, where he worked for 30 years. Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. (time of service), with Pastor James Fish officiating.
