Born May 9, 1926 in Juniata Township, Bedford County, he was the son of the late John E. and Mary C. (Imgrund) Wambaugh. He was the husband of Maxine E. (Manges) Kelly-Wambaugh, whom he married Oct. 29, 1949. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Joyce (Wambaugh) Burns, Manns Choice; son, John F. Wambaugh Jr. husband of Jane Ann Hunt, Burton, Mich.; daughter Deborah (Wambaugh) wife of Anthony Wambaugh of Herndon, Va.; stepdaughter Doris (Kelley) wife of Hubert Mock, Del.; step-son John Kelley, Manns Choice, and sisters Florence Hankinson, Berlin, Marie Lohr, Manns Choice, and Lucy Myers, Berlin. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren, and a great-greatgranddaughter. Preceded in death by brother George and two sisters, Alice Briniger and Kathleen Hill. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and had been employed at Berlin Lumber Co. for 16 years. He was a member of St. Marks Church of New Buena Vista. He served in World War II as a private in the U.S. Army. He was in the 63rd Infantry in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and the Philippines. Member of Schellsburg VFW Post 4440. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg where service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Rev. Kerry Cathers officiating. Burial in Fishertown Cemetery, with graveside military rites accorded by Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Daily American, September 7, 2000 [W0421]
