Ward, 60, of Indiana died Dec. 2, 1998, at Indiana Hospital. A son of Richard T. and Renatha Hruscienski Ward, he was born June 25, 1938, in New Kensington. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having obtained the rank of lieutenant with the U.S. Navy. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Ohio, along with a master's degree in journalism. Employed as council executive for the Boy Scouts of America for the past 32 years, having traveled extensively in that position. He served the Penn's Woods Council in this region for the past 8 years. Surviving is his wife, Mildred A. "Jill" Ward, Indiana; two brothers and one sister: Thomas J. Ward and his wife Lynn, Bethel Park, Pa.; Janice E. Black and her husband Warren, Chillicothe, Ohio; Richard G. Ward and his wife Sherry, Chillicothe; also 10 nieces and nephews; one aunt, Valeda Moret and her husband Peter, Lower Burrell, Pa. Preceded in death by parents. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 Saturday at Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Indiana, where a wake service will be held Saturday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Chillicothe, Ohio. Interment, St. Margaret Cemetery, Chillicothe.
